Wellness in the workplace is of paramount importance to employer, employees, families of the employed and society as a whole.
While companies are increasingly having to address the physical aspects of occupational health and safety as a statutory requirement, the broader aspects of employee wellness continues to impact on their productivity and return on investment. A healthy workplace therefore makes business and humanitarian sense.
Effectiveness in addressing workplace wellness is just as essential as any other workplace processes. However, many leaders in the workplace are not mindful of the direction, scope, and inputs their organisation can and should pursue to achieve optimum outcomes and amazing benefits in this regard.
While subscribing to wellness day events that is gaining traction in the marketplace, particularly driven by medical aids, managers must have their own framework for wellness that is aligned to international best practice and customised to the respective needs of their organisation.
As the conduct of wellness days become more prevalent in organisations, the question arises, are we truly addressing the wellness of employees as can possibly be done in the workplace?
