Programme outline
Module 1. Orientation to the New Venture Creation Programme

Learners will be introduced to the skills and strategies needed to succeed in New Venture Creation. Learners will practice effective research methods, analysing information and useful team work skills.

Module 2. Starting a New Business

This module teaches learners the individual characteristics essential to every entrepreneur and the importance of analytical, creative and innovative thinking needed for growth in business. Learners will study the environmental and economic influences of the current and the mechanisms in which the market operates.

Module 3. Planning for Business Success

In this module, learners are shown how to identify and explore new ideas and potential ventures and the, how to produce business, financial and operational plans. Learners are also taught about the economic and administrative issues that face small businesses and how to implement and monitor a strategic plan to overcome these challenges while improving performance.

Module 4. Marketing and Sales

For every small business, customers are important. In this module, learners will study marketing techniques and strategies specific to small businesses. Learners gain an understanding in market segmentation and positioning and coordination and monitoring of promotional activities.

Module 5. Fundamental Mathematics

Fundamental mathematics covers the essential number and problem solving skills needed in every line of business.

Module 6. Managing Finances of a New Venture

This module covers the management of finances and financing options for small businesses and new ventures. Learners will be able to apply the principles of costing and pricing in determining profit margins.

Module 7. Managing Operations

In this module, learners will draw and implement an action plan derived from their business plans and practice methods to optimise business productivity within their plan.

Module 8. Managing Human Resources

In this module, learners will develop an understanding of human resources, labour relations and general administration that impacts small businesses and new ventures.

Module 9. Communication in Business

Communication in business can sometimes be a different language all together with industry jargon and terms. Learners will explore strategies of effective speaking, negotiating and communication in a business environment.

Module 10. Writing and Presenting Your Business Plan
