Project management has become a critical methodology for any manager who has to meet tight deadlines with limited resources. Managing short lead-times and on-time delivery systems is a distinctive business competence. The application of project management principles and techniques will help virtually any business improve its performance. Our learning programme focuses on project management techniques in the context of planning and implementing successful projects through effective people management.
Module 1: Introduction to Project Management (120372; 120385)
This module covers the vocabulary, knowledge and basic preformance competencies necessary to intuitively understand and function in project supporting roles and to organise and execute their own day-to-day work in a more efficient manner using modern project management concepts and methods.
Module 2: Project Monitoring and Control (120387)
In this module, you will learn about a range of project control processes and techniques. We will cover monitoring actual work against planned work and find out how to record and communicate schedule changes.
Module 3: Project Initiation, Planning and Implementation (120373; 120384;120374;120375;120383)
In this module, you will learn about the elements and resources to be costed through interpretation of the project scope statement, work breakdown structure and other project data. You will also learn how you can participate in the preparation and production of a cost budget and very importantly, how you can contribute to the monitoring and controlling of cost budget performance. We will cover quality planning, control and assurance and the testing of project quality outcomes. You will learn how you can assist and contribute to the development of quality deliverables. You will also learn about scheduling as a very important step of the Project Initiation Phase and the purpose and process of scheduling and how to develop a simple schedule for a project or part of a project.
Module 4: Managing Teams (242819; 10135)
In this course, you will learn how to build your team, improve teamwork and collaboration, and sustain team performance through continuous learning and improvement. Specifically, you will learn best practices for composing a team and aligning individual and team goals. You will also learn how to establish roles, build structures, and manage decision making so that your team excels. This module will also help you manage critical team processes such as conflict resolution and building trust that have a profound impact on your team’s performance.
Module 5: Project Support (120381; 120376; 120382)
In this module, you will learn about the processes and standards to support project change control, the updating and communication of change requests, the administration of the project library and the maintenance of project organisational information. You will learn about the processes for managing project documentation to support project processes. You will learn about paper based and electronic filing systems, processes for identifying, securing and finding documents; preparing project handover documents and project templates. You will learn about planning, organising and supporting project meetings and workshops. We will look at the purpose, objectives and scope of project meetings and how they are planned, arranged and recorded.
Module 6: Business writing skills ( 12153; 8976)
The broad aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities for effective business writing. This module will also explore the underlying values and attitudes which convey respect for one’s audience when communicating. To communicate effectively in the business world you will be trained to prepare clear, concise and professional English written communication.
